Light the Advent Candle One

Light the Advent candle one,
now the waiting has begun.

We have started on our way,
time to think of Christmas Day.

We spent Thanksgiving in Canada taking another look at Acadia University as Helen is considering attending next year.  We arrived home on Saturday, and Sunday was a flurry of stepping from one season to another.  We approach Christmas a bit slowly. For instance we got our Advent wreath pulled together, but I wasn't quite ready to deck the halls in red.

Candle, candle burning bright,
shining in the cold winter night.

One other decoration went up inside--the Christmas Elf. He always appears on December 1st to sit quietly up high and report to Santa on our needs and wants (and behaviors!).  I teasingly asked Liz if perhaps the Elf might not need to come anymore since we were all getting older. She worriedly said "What? Of course he needs to come. Do you think he might be more willing to come if I left out a whiskey for him?"  Ahem.

It is Christmasy outside at our house as Nelson and Liz got the lights up.

I planted an amaryllis and look at it each morning thinking about all the potential in there.

Candle, candle burning bright,
fill our hearts with Christmas light.
