Light the Advent Candle Two

St. Nicholas visited last week.
Our girls still enjoy this little tradition and it certainly is an easy one to keep going.

Our second weekend in Advent included the Waldorf Winter Fair (where Liz had a wonderful reunion with all her classmates) and the beginnings of handmade gift making (the saw was running in the cellar, the sewing machine was clacking away in the dining room).

No more crafting at the Winter Fair--alums (and parents) like to visit!
The Christmas season is also performance season. This weekend Helen was involved in the musical, Rent, and both Liz and Nelson were in an orchestra concert. This year, Liz's orchestra was short a few brass instruments so Nelson stepped in. He hasn't played his trumpet in many, many years. I loved hearing him play again.

It was also nice for Liz. The two of them headed out to rehearsal every Wednesday this fall.

Here they are with their conductor after the concert.

Light the Advent candle two,
think of humble shepherds who,
filled with wonder at the sight,
of the child on Christmas night.

So happy to read that there are still believers in the St.Nick tradition.
