Some family time by the sea

Summer
In between all the musical festivities, we went to Maine for a week and stayed at a friend's cabin. They had their own little cove and beach where we spent a lot of time!
We all did quite a bit of reading. Liz enjoyed all of Dan Brown's books. Helen dug into a wide variety of classics--20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, Lord of the Flies, The Scarlett Letter, Around the World in 80 Days, and War of the Worlds. My reading centered around all the "wives" books that are out right now--The Paris Wife, The Aviator's Wife, and Z: A Novel. It was fun to combine them with Hemingway's Farewell to Arms, Lindbergh's A Gift from the Sea, and Fitzgerald's Great Gatsby. Nelson had a Sci Fi fest.
We did a bit of crafting--Nelson carved some spoons and I experimented with water colors.
Of course we feasted on seafood!
We spent hours working on puzzles.
The girls have graduated to 1,000 piece puzzles and they still plowed through them quickly.
Liz and Nelson brought their instruments and we jammed.
Music, puzzles, good books, kayaks, and seafood. It doesn't get much better than that for our family.
Hi Sarah, Hope you're all well. I was wondering if you could send me your email again as I can't seem to find it. Tom is meeting Abby Johnson next week and wanted to say that he knows you.
