St. Nicholas Arrived

I asked Helen what she would miss the most from her Waldorf school's Christmas traditions and what she would want to see continue at home. She replied "St. Nicholas."

The girls left their shoes in front of the fireplace Monday night. The next morning (after I defended the shoes from the dog for quite awhile) they found glitter everywhere and their shoes filled with clementines, candies, and chocolate gold coins.

It's a simple little tradition, but I imagine I'll be sending them a shoe full of chocolates even when they are in college. It is that dear a tradition to them.

Housekeeping note....that's glitter on the floor :)

It is a wonderful tradition and so special that your girls treasure it so much.

One thing I love about St. Nicholas day is that the presents in the shoes can be so simple- yet they're still so appreciated.
