Helen's Birthday Weekend

Some scenes from Helen's birthday weekend.

She had a race on Saturday. Here they are heading up to the starting line.
We managed to surprise her at the race with her cousin and uncle.

We all got to have a nice picnic on the edge of the river while she rowed.

She got a guitar for her birthday. There was lots of fun chatting on the phone with family and noodling about on the guitar all weekend.

Liz left for Quebec City with her class at the crack of dawn on Sunday morning. We loaded up the kayaks the night before and went for a paddle after dropping her with the chaperones. Our yard sale/craig's list shopping has paid off and we can now easily transport boats on the car.

Early, early morning on the pond.
I think our brother-in-law thought we were a bit crazy at first to want to go out so early!

It was a little chilly, but eventually the sun came out along with the turtles.

We surprised this beaver. He eventually swam at us and wapped his tale.

After a nice coffee at the bakery on the bluff over the pond, we went home and dragged the kids out of bed for a final visit and then said our goodbye's.

This friend hooted his goodbye to the weekend as well.

Happy Sweet 16, Helen.
It was a very sweet weekend with family, music, boating, nature, and lots of SNAKE CAKE--all your favorite things.
