Wintry Mix Day 1

The girls have been home for school TWICE this week because of "wintry mixes." While I love snow, I don't love the ice. It has been extremely icy and too dangerous to walk much less sled. Here is H using ski poles to get down the driveway to check the road.

So many days indoors requires serious crafting. I keep two ingredients on hand for winter crafts--Ivory Snow flakes and borax. We make these crafts only once a year so they are viewed as a treat.

We used the Ivory Snow on Wednesday to make these little snowmen.

To make these cute little guys, we mixed about 1/2 cup of water with about 4 cups of detergent. We started with 2 cups and kept adding it.

Isn't he cute?

Our craft medium turned to felt when my neighbor arrived and we made these little valentine needle books. She had a huge bag of plant-dyed felt scraps left over from making crowns. The colors were wonderful.

Stay tuned...there's another day of wintry mix crafting....

So cute! Does the Ivory Snow mixture dry out and become crumbly, or does it solidify? I've never heard of that craft, though I have done Borax snowflakes.

Those little fellows are the cutest things ever! I'm going to tuck that idea away as well. Thanks!

Those are such sweet little snowmen. Perfect on an indoor crafty kind of day. Love the little personalities that you gave them too!
