Our own little winter carnival

The mountains met the sea this weekend when we had our own little winter carnival with friends from Maine. In the summer we sometimes sail with them. This winter they got to be "in these hills."

Lou's chalkboard welcome

Lots of local foods--our own maple syrup, homemade pizza, local cheeses

Chatting at the puzzle table

A huge crokinole tournament and a big round of Apples to Apples--truly our favorite party game.

A bit of antiquing

But most of our time was spent outside in the snow

We have a big sledding hill!

Snowballs

and a few more snowballs

A sad snowman

Odin ran alongside all the sleds

A bonfire to keep us warm

And a gentle snowfall to end our weekend.
It's been 25 years of a wonderful friendship!

Apples To Apples is a favorite in our house, too. :-) In fact, we played it last night.

I just love the picture of the house on the hill wit the bonfire in the snow.

Happy 2010!

what fun! Sledding and a snowman and a bonfire - throw some hot chocolate in there and you've pretty much got perfection.

What wonderful images! it looks like your weekend truly was as much fun as a carnival. I'm envious of your sledding hill.

Sometimes in the deep mid-winter I need to be reminded of why I love this season--thank you for doing that!
