Hels made a snow measuring stick for Nels this Christmas. She (with her Uncle's help) used a block plane to smooth one side and scrape away the bark, then labeled it with a sharpie.
Here it is in use. It currently reads 22" which makes for great sledding.
Here goes everybody down the hill. The girls are always so very happy when Nels and I join them.
Train wreck at the bottom.
A rest in her personal snow cave.
More handmade Christmas gifts to be revealed later this week....
OK! So I won't complain about the foot of snow we just received.
I think we'll take out toboggan out tomorrow, it is too powdery today.
what a treasure! i look forward to when i can do wood working with my older boy, i know he will really enjoy it.
(and happy to hear your trip to NY was so memorable)
You are so lucky to have snow. It looks like oodles of fun!
Oh, pretty snow. Great fun!
Now that is a handy gift for your neck of the woods!
We've had such a thaw that the big snow piles are almost gone. There were a few days of fun sledding because they were so icy, but now it's all mush. Hopefully we'll get more snow soon -- we want to make a snow cave too!
I'm feeling quite green with envy, as we are still wishing for a heavy snowfall. There is nothing like a day out in the white stuff to rejuvenate the spirit!!!
I love the snow stick...how creative!
